The Supervisory Board of Vonovia Finance B.V. comprises of four members:
Dr. A. Stefan Kirsten (Member and Chairman of the Supervisory Board)
Dr. A. Stefan Kirsten is member of the Supervisory Board since July 3, 2015 and was appointed Chairman of the SVB on December 14, 2015. From 2011 to 2018 he held the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with Vonovia SE and was responsible for finance, accounting, tax, insurance and investor relations. Dr. Kirsten left Vonovia in May 2018.
Prior to his career at Vonovia Dr. Kirsten was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with Majid Al Futtaiim Group LLC, a real estate development company focusing mainly on retail and entertainment ventures in the Emirates. Previous to that he held positions as Chief Financial Officer with both Metro AG and ThyssenKrupp AG in Germany. His professional career goes with his excellent reputation in the international financial market place as well as financial accounting and controlling. In 2017 he was awarded CEO of the Year by the magazine “Finance”.
Upon completing his masters degree in business economics at the FernUniversität Hagen and Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in Germany, he earned his doctorate in 1991. Later on, he completed the Stanford Executive Program at the Graduate School of Business of the Stanford University in California. Since 1995 he has taught at various universities in Germany and abroad. Dr. Kirsten was appointed to a professorship with the Westfaelische University in Gelsenkirchen in 2001.
Helene von Roeder (Member of the Supervisory Board)
Helene von Roeder is member of the Supervisory Board since June 27, 2018. Since May 2018 she also holds the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with Vonovia SE and is amongst others responsible for finance, controlling, accounting, tax and insurance.
After her studies of physics in Munich and theoretical astrophysics in Cambridge, Mrs. von Roeder started her professional career in 1995 at Deutsche Bank in London. In 2000 she moved on to work at the Frankfurt and London branches of UBS AG. She then joined Morgan Stanley Bank AG in Frankfurt in 2004 where she was, as Head of Global Capital Markets for Germany and Austria, also member of the Executive Board. Before joining Vonovia she was responsible for the business of Credit Suisse in Germany, Austria and the CEE Group.
Dr. Fabian Heß (Member of the Supervisory Board)
Dr. Fabian Heß is a member of the Supervisory Board since 7 April 2017. Since October 2016 he holds the position of General Counsel at the parent company Vonovia SE in Bochum where he is responsible for the management of the law department.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Heß was Head of the law department at Vonovia SE. He had held the same position at the Gagfah Group before its merger with Vonovia in 2015. His professional expertise includes M&A transactions, structured financing, restructurings or the integration of acquired companies. He started his professional career in 2004 as a lawyer in the field of corporate law and M&A at the Düsseldorf branch of the US law firm Shearman & Sterling LLP.
Upon completing his law studies at the Phillips-Universität zu Marburg and the Universität zu Köln in year 2000 he passed his first state law examination at the Higher Regional Court of Cologne in 2002. He wrote his doctoral thesis at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität zu Münster. In 2004, Dr. Heß passed his second state law examination at the Landesjustizprüfungsamt NRW in Düsseldorf after having gone through different practical stages (civil law, criminal law, administration, lawyers stage) during his legal traineeship.
Simone Schumacher (Member of the Supervisory Board)
Simone Schumacher was appointed member of the Supervisory Board on 1 November 2016.
In 2011 she relocated from Germany to The Netherlands to join BMW Finance N.V. in Rijswijk where she is responsible for the accounting department as Head of Accounting since July 2016. Prior to that, she held the position of Treasury Service Manager. Simone is specialized in financial accounting, risk management, controlling and treasury management.
During her prior career she has gained work experience in various positions at the BMW Bank GmbH in Munich, Germany. She held the position of Specialist Treasury and Specialist Risk-Controlling and has worked in the back office treasury and accounting of the BMW Bank GmbH.
Simone Schumacher graduated as Diplom-Kauffrau in finance & bank management and in marketing from the University of Siegen in 2006.
Olaf Weber (Member of the Supervisory Board)
Olaf Weber is a member of the Supervisory Board since 1 July 2017. Since that date he also holds the position of Head of Finance and Treasury at the parent company Vonovia SE in Bochum. Previously, he led the Middle-Office, a department within the Finance and Treasury division. Olaf focuses on the risk assessment and risk strategy as well as on all tasks in the context of refinancing. Therefore he has the right expertise to supervise the company.
Before joining Vonovia in 2013, Olaf held various positions in the field of Treasury: he was Head of Treasury and Risk Controlling at the EDE GmbH Germany, and prior to that Deputy Head of Group Treasury at the OBI Group. Olaf started his professional career at the Deutsche Bank AG where he completed his training as a bank clerk in the early 1990s and held the position of Vice President when he left the bank in 2007.
In 2002, Olaf graduated as Diplom-Bankbetriebswirt from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management where he additionally passed a course to be a certified risk manager for medium-sized credit institutions in 2013.
